Adventures of Pukiemon - What's it all about?
Welcome to the world of PukieMon, where reality
has taken a day off and nothing will force it to reconsider.
The idea is pretty much a parent's revenge on a particularly
irritating craze. It is also, by way of unashamed political
satire, a dig at the current crop of loonies that administer
this fair land and their idiotic posturings that pass for
political acumen.
S660 A Taxing Experience - January 2006 (updated July 2007)
At last it is all over. On the 25th July 2007 the 5 Law Lords of the House of Lords handed down a judgement on the Arctic case. They found unanimously against Her Majesties Revenue and Customs and for Geoff and Diana Jones of Arctic Systems Ltd. It has been a long 6 years for the Joneses. Having to put up with the bullying of the Inland Revenue (later HMRC) for over 5 years nearly wrecked their health and their livelihood. In the end they won, but how many other small people are being treated equally brutally by their own government? We will probably never know, but it is clear that HMRC is an organisation that is out of control. PukieMon.com calls for the formation of an independent committee to oversee and report on the future activities of the HMRC. Here is something to keep in mind:
HMRC WASTED OVER 1 MILLION POUNDS OF PUBLIC MONEY ON A CASE WORTH ONLY £6000.
This case should never have been brought in the first place. The story being promulgated is that the HMRC have lost 1 billion in revenue as a result of losing this case, the reality is that they were never entitled to it in the first place. They were simply trying it on, but they tried it with the wrong couple. Geoff and Diana Jones should be named in the next Honour's List.
